About Hot Yoga

Hot Yoga is a sequence of yoga postures performed in a heated room ( 30-37 deg c ). It is a cardiovascular workout that loosens, strengthens and tones the muscles while calming the mind and reducing stress. The first 45mins. of the class is devoted to a dynamic set of standing postures which is challenging and fun and prepares and warms the body for the floor sequence, which works on lengthening leg muscles, strengthening the spine, opening the hips and building upper body strength.

Why the heat?

The heat allows for deep, safe stretching and promotes detoxification of the skin, blood and muscle. The body is flushed of toxins, leaving a deep sense of relaxation and well being. It helps create a vital balance of body and mind and restores all systems to optimal health. Regular practice harmonizes the nervous and endocrine system, two systems which feature heavily in emotional well being.  Students of all ages who practice regularly notice an increase in energy, strength, balance, flexibility and mental focus.

Who can do Hot Yoga?

Everyone!! The class is suitable for for all levels and ages ( children must be over thirteen ). It is especially great for beginners to yoga.....but what if I'm not flexible? This is the most common misconception that prevents people from coming to a yoga class, and yet yoga is not about how flexible you are. It is about stretching your body, your spine in all directions to your own personal capability, it is about breathing and staying in the present moment. If you maintain the correct form of the posture and work with effort, energy and enthusiasm, you will reap many different benefits, and yes, you will become more supple in body and mind.
